Internal Auditor

The Wheaton Group, a leader in the auto industry in Western Canada, is looking for an Internal Auditor to join their team. If you have strong knowledge of internal auditing and control standards, take a creative and strategic approach to recommendations with strong data analysis skills this could be the role for you.

Job Summary

As part of the Internal Audit department, the Internal Auditor is responsible for oversight of multiple business entities in the banking and insurance industries and to provide oversight and assurance services to the CEO and Board of Directors for this dynamic group of businesses.

What you will be doing:

  • Assist with development and implementation of Internal Audit strategic plan
  • Ensure audit engagements are planned and performed in alignment with Internal Audit operational guidelines
  • Research emerging issues and best practices in risk assessment, auditing and accounting.
  • Ensure that corporate policy and professional standards are maintained in the planning, execution and in the accumulation of audit evidence.
  • Prepare audit reports with findings and recommendations for assigned audits and discuss the reports with Management

What you bring to the table:

  • CPA, 1 - 2 years post designation
  • Public Accounting firm audit experience an asset
  • Strong data analysis skills using Microsoft Excel (working knowledge of other data analysis tools such as Tableau an asset)
  • Creative, innovative and strategic thinking with business savvy
  • Team player with ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral and presentation), excellent interpersonal and management skills
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of internal auditing and control standards and internal consulting skills
  • Experience with financial institutions and IT auditing an asset
  • You must possess a valid Driver’s License, as periodic travel within Edmonton may be required.
