Restaurant Server

Opening for residency in Fall 2019, Opal will be a boutique collection of retirement suites on Vancouver’s west side, offering refined amenities and services that are designed with the highest standards in mind. Opal is currently looking to hire multiple servers in full time and part time roles at the residence.

The role:

Working under the leadership & mentorship of a Michelin Restaurant Trained Chef and a Certified Chef de Cuisine.

As a Server, you’ll provide an exceptional dining experience to our residents and guests by being thoroughly knowledgeable about the menu and by building genuine connections with them.

Ensuring that all guest’s needs are taken into consideration and that they are treated in a caring and professional manner is an integral part of this role.

 

Duties:

  • Perform fine dining services and related activities in a professional and courteous manner 
  • Speak to the selection of food and beverage menu items by offering interesting and vivid descriptions of each item’s taste and prep methods
  • Coordinate food timings and transporting items to the guest table in a timely manner to ensure proper food quality and dining experience
  • Work in a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • Process orders using POS system
  • Accurately close guest cheques and processing cash and card payment
  • Breakdown, clean and set-up furniture, buffets, and food stations
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Food & Beverage Manager
  • Comply with all public health regulations

 

Who you are:

  • Two (2) years of serving or hosting experience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced hospitality setting with the ability to multitask
  • Experience with Point of Sale (POS) system
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English (Cantonese would be an asset)
  • Possess a Serve It Right Certification
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
