Legal Assistant

TPD's client regulates the activities of life and general insurance agents, salespersons and adjusters. Their mandate is to protect the public by ensuring agents and adjusters act ethically, with integrity and competence!

Located in Vancouver at a transit friendly location, they are looking for an experienced Legal Assistant to join their team on a full-time temporary basis until September! For the right candidate this position has a likely chance to turn permanent based on performance and fit.


  • Assist with the movement of cases through disciplinary or licensing suitability processes.
  • Assist with preparation of decision or process related documents, such as reports to Council/Committees, production orders, subpoenas, and notices of hearing.
  • Record and draft Committee meeting minutes.
  • Maintain a precedents database.
  • Draft correspondence related to case management work.
  • Assist with developing procedures and template documentation.
  • Assist with the coordination of hearings and case management meetings, including organizing committees, preparing meeting material, meeting set-up, and arranging out-of-town travel and accommodations as needed.
  • Assist with Council’s participation in Financial Services Tribunal appeals and judicial reviews.
  • Liaise on complaints and investigations with other regulatory agencies and stakeholders as directed.
  • Liaise with Council members, staff, licensees, applicants, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with the handling and management of Council’s responsibilities under applicable privacy legislation and in response to Freedom of Information requests.
  • Such other duties as Legal Counsel may require.


  • Graduate of a recognized Legal Assistant program.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the capacity of a Legal Assistant within a regulatory body, or within a law firm.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with high attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to organize large volumes of work and handle competing priorities.
  • Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills.
  • Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office desktop applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with insurance and/or financial services is an asset, but not required.


  • Stable Hours - Monday to Friday - 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
  • Pay rate between $60-$70k annually
