IT Desktop Support Specialist

BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo), owner and operator of BC Place Stadium and the Vancouver Convention Centre, is currently searching for an IT Desktop Support Specialist to be part of our dynamic, service-oriented IT Team.

Reporting to the Director of IT, this position requires an experienced individual who is expected to be both a self-starter and enthusiastic team player. The IT Desktop Support Specialist will be responsible to help, problem solve and fix issues related to a wide range of technologies including Microsoft 0365, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft and Amazon Cloud services, End point protections software, Video Conferencing solutions, Cisco switching gear, Windows desktops and Servers, iPhones, Cisco Firewalls, KM printers and much more.

  • Manage network and e-mail user accounts including set-up, removal, and passwords.
  • Manage Microsoft 0365 account creation and access to services. 
  • Maintain workstation O/S (Windows), application, and anti-virus updates. 
  • Maintain workstation imaging services and software patching services for the department
  • Analysis of firewall security events and root cause analysis
  • Assist with monitoring and maintenance of network security. 
  • Assist with maintenance, monitoring, and management of 200+ Cisco / Meraki fiber linked switches. 
  • Assist with management of DHCP, DNS, network scripts, and printing as necessary. 
  • Respond to support and inquiry calls from clients and exhibitors including root cause analysis 
  • Commission, test, and troubleshoot phone and internet service orders for clients and exhibitors. 
  • Provide first-line troubleshooting and end-user technical support for all software and hardware issues. 
  • Utilize helpdesk software to log, prioritize, and manage all problems to resolution. 
  • Communicate resolution status to users and stakeholders and document solutions to problems. 
  • Assist in developing and maintaining written instructional materials and documentation to facilitate IT or user operations. 
  • Load, configure, and test hardware and software installations as well as upgrades for users.
  • Manage and maintain imaging and application distribution system. 
  • Respond to inventory change requests by physically moving, adding, or changing technology. 
  • Audit, verify, and maintain accurate hardware and software inventories. 
  • Participate in project initiatives – large scale technology replacement, rollout or decommission. 
  • Research and evaluate products and services to ensure compatibility with existing systems. 
  • Monitor and maintain a clean and well-organized IT environment including desk/workspace, server, and equipment rooms. 
  • Inside cable plant support – inventory, documentation, labeling, and organization of data rack wiring. 
  • Asset inventory – gathering detailed hardware and software inventory information



  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience of working in a technical support capacity
  • Polytechnic Degree in computer networking / business systems preferred or Completion of a 4-year University Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related area of study
  • CCNA designation is strongly preferred
  • Sound working knowledge of a wide variety of standard software applications including Ungerboeck (EBMS), Microsoft O365, Exchange Online, MS Azure, Windows 10, iOS, and Android operating systems etc.
  • Familiarity working with the following systems:
    • Azure Active Directory (multiple domain environment).
    • IT hardware – typical mobile handheld devices, desktops, printers and copiers.
    • Rack hardware – servers, UPS’s, switches, firewalls and routers.
    • Microsoft O365
    • Deployment and management – images, applications, patches, and anti-virus updates, Networking (LAN), VLAN assignments, cable patching and VOIP phone management, VPN, Firewall, VMware, SAN’s and Enterprise back-up administration.
    • WLAN systems – enterprise level AP’s, etc.
  • Strong understanding of network monitoring tools including Solarwinds and Meraki.
  • Ability to explain complex technical information to end users.
