Senior Manager, Human Resources

 

BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo), owner and operator of BC Place Stadium and the Vancouver Convention Centre, is currently searching for a Senior Manager, Human Resources to join our team.  This important new role will report to the Senior Director, Human Resources, and acts as a key part of the HR leadership team responsible for people strategy and programs at PavCo.

We’re looking for a seasoned, pragmatic and humble leader to join the PavCo leadership team in the role of Senior Manager, Human Resources. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Human Resources, this position will work out of the PavCo corporate office with breadth across the entire organization including our iconic sites, BC Place and Vancouver Convention Centre. The ideal candidate is an experienced HR professional with expertise across all facets of HR, a leader who can think strategically while toggling tactically with the ability to roll up their sleeves and work hands on as needed. Essential is the ability to influence and build strong relations at all levels of the organization, from executive to front line and the ability to leverage his/her strong HR knowledge to translate business strategies and objectives into people-centric programs.
 

Working closely with our HR team, organizational leaders and vendor partners, the Senior Manager will support and foster our strong operational service and sales orientated workplace culture through the development and execution of HR talent management programs including talent acquisition, employee engagement, succession planning, leadership development and HR policy development. This is a key leadership role that requires an innovative HR thought leader who will help position PavCo to continue to be an employer of choice.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • In consultation with our site HR partners, design and manage a portfolio of talent related areas such as engagement, performance, succession, assessment, learning, leadership, coaching, mentoring and other talent and career development programs

  • Oversee and support PavCo’s  talent acquisition program to ensure we are leveraging innovative and diverse sourcing techniques to attract the best qualified candidates 

  • Work in partnership on projects to aid continuous improvement and implement programs (ie: HRIS, policy changes, changes to working practice, organizational and procedural change)

  • Support and guide the PavCo leadership team on all people related matters, including business change and transformation.  Form strong relationships with the management team to be able to challenge and coach as we continue to build a high performance environment 

  • Deliver and support our annual employee engagement survey in partnership with our external survey provider 

  • Support PavCo’s performance development process to ensure all employees have goals that are being reviewed on a regular basis and leaders are well versed and comfortable in the feedback cycle

  • Facilitate the annual compensation and merit review process in partnership with the HR leadership team

 

 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Critical thinker who maximizes efficiency and outcomes by creating smart, workable, well-understood strategic and plans. Weighs options, considers long-term and organization wide impacts;  sees opportunities, anticipates challenges and analyzes impact  

  • Superb communication skills with the ability to create and foster an open and collaborative environment; exhibits confidence, sophistication and persuasiveness in all forms of communication.

  • Strong team player who supports the broader goals and best interests of the whole organization at all times; an engaging, collaborative, diplomatic, open and transparent team member who sets the tone of cooperation amongst clients and peers

  • Innovative thought leader who cultivates a culture that continuously looks for ways to advance business challenges conventional thinking, and stays informed about trends and technology. Brings innovative thinking to opportunities and challenges; ensures good ideas are put into action.

  • Bachelors’ degree (or equivalent) in Human Resources, Commerce/Business, or similar.

  • CPHR designation an asset

  • Minimum of  7 years’ HR experience with at least 2-3 years in a HR Manager or Senior HR Manager capacity
