Manager, Maintenance Strategy & Planning

This is a unique opportunity to join one of Canada's most high-profile Resource companies as their Manager, Maintenance Strategy & Planning



  • Recruit and lead the team to develop the Maintenance Strategy & Planning program
  • Provide operational leadership into the identification of the most critical plant and equipment at a broad system level in order to prioritize the maintenance effort in execution and operations phases
  • Manage the deployment of the defect elimination process and systems across the business
  • Lead a team that provides expertise to manage Total Equipment Strategies (TES) development across the Potash Operations from the mine, process plant, rail and port operations. This includes: 
    • Leading adherence to TES work standards through coaching of the purpose and functionality of critical controls relevant to their work.
    • Identifying and replicating best maintenance strategies and practices into Total Equipment Strategies to improve performance.
    • Engaging with Maintenance Centre of Excellence (MCoE) Asset Management to incorporate Total Equipment Strategies in key standards decisions.
    • Leading the team to optimize the TES by collaborating with the Project Engineering function, Supply, Finance and Original Equipment Manufacturers.



  • Engineering or other relevant tertiary education.
  • Multiple years of leadership experience in a maintenance capacity 
  • Significant experience in the application of workplace safety standards.
  • Proven experience on equipment strategy development including application of analytical tools (modelling and simulation).
  • Experience operating at both Process and System level with the ability to review overall equipment performance as well as drill into specifics.
  • Experience leveraging advancing technology (such as data analytics) to deliver outcomes.
  • Experience leading strategy development to deliver equipment performance using reliability methodologies.
  • Experience in execution of maintenance, including exposure to failure diagnosis and repair methods.
  • Contract management experience across contract full life-cycle from establishment to close-out.
  • Ability to interpret business outlooks and develop them into a long term strategy
  • Management of budgeting, cost control and continuous improvement.
  • Experience leading / engaging people and creating an environment of trust and collaboration among different operational teams / crews / shifts / suppliers / OEMs.
  • Experience / exposure prioritizing different projects or resources, articulating and presenting analyses and results to diverse audiences ranging from operational crews to senior leadership.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and emerging issues.
  • Communicates complex and technical information to large groups
