Sanitation Supervisor

Our client, a highly established and growing International company in the food manufacturing and distribution industry, has a rare opening for an Sanitation Supervisor to join their dynamic team.

This position is open due to the tremendous growth and success the company has experienced.

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Responsible for the performance, safety, quality, documentation, and cost efficiency of the area(s) he/she is in charge of and reporting any abnormalities to the Production Manager
  • Works closely with Food Safety & Quality Control team to achieve the desired level of sanitation for adequate food processing
  • Works closely with the Maintenance department to take care of, and address any maintenance related issues that arise or that would affect the production of healthy, sanitary products and building repairs
  • Responsible for the coordination of the department – training of the crew and labour scheduling
  • Manages the supply of necessary chemicals, supplies and equipment to perform all sanitation tasks as required
  • Responsible for keeping and following a Master Sanitation Schedule of items that require periodic attention
  • Leads Sanitation Associates to clean plant 
  • Implements and maintains Company Quality System programs related to sanitation, pest control and production.
  • Provide leadership, ensures proper safety training, and guidance for a team of hourly Sanitation Associates.
  • Maintains proper documentation that meet USDA, State, Customer, and Company requirements for sanitation and pest control.
  • Ensure plant is in-compliance with USDA, and FDA requirements while ensuring cleanliness of facility to maintain the highest safety and quality standards.
  • Assure proper timing for release of plant to Production Management.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Leads Associates and manages processes during production shut down, sanitation, and production start-up for entire plant including production, warehouse, and other areas as identified.
  • Develops, Maintains, and Implements SSOPs.
  • Works with chemical vendor to ensure all sanitation training material is up to date.
  • Performs document control and reviews daily documents for sanitation.
  • Continues to improve sanitation practices by optimizing sustainability (water and chemical usage, labor, time, etc).
  • Ensures all expendable supplies are properly maintained, in good working order, and sufficient quantity on hand to effectively clean the plant.
  • Conducts audits and inspections relating to Sanitation and Pest Control at scheduled frequency.
  • Executes work orders submitted to QA department.
  • Functions at all levels of production / sanitation (Sanitation Group leader or Operator / Associate) as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Experience in food, or dairy, or a beverage production environment as a Sanitation Supervisor strongly preferred
  • Completion of a Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or related field an asset
  • Effective leadership skills to influence and coach team members and peers to positively impact plant and business processes
  • Strong communication and employee engagement skills
  • Sound planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • Lean/Continuous Improvement experience is an asset
  • Must have strong computer (MS Office) skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of dry/wet cleaning process and chemical functionality
  • Strong understanding of HACCP / GMP requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership qualities
  • The incumbent should be flexible to work Night shifts and Weekend.
