Health and Safety Manager

TPD has partnered with a well-established client here in Vancouver, BC in search of a Health and Safety Manager to join their passionate team based out of their downtown Vancouver office! The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for leading and overseeing the corporate health and safety of the company. The Manager will be a champion for health and safety.

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Oversee all health and safety affairs, including, but not limited to: development, implementation, and management of H&S programs and plans 
  • Effectively train and guide employees through the company's health and safety plan
  • Ensure all levels of safety measures are in place and lead employees to regularly engage with established policies and procedures 
  • Find methods to improve existing systems and processes with respect to safety management 
  • Monitor incident reports, near misses and injury management systems 
  • Prepare H&S reports 
  • Ensure company H&S policies and systems are in compliance with provincial and federal legislation and policy 
  • Analyzing H&S trends and propose proactive measures to prevent incidents/loss
  • Highlighting H&S issues, make recommendations and/or issue instructions (based on reports, audits, and incident analysis) to enhance company H&S performance;
  • Leading/facilitating/participating in Root Cause Analysis incident investigation
  • Attend industry-wide events and meetings as a company representative
  • Manage annual health and safety re-certification process for all organizations
  • Conducting internal audits for our COR certification
  • Ensure comprehensive risk and hazard analysis is conducted at all new service locations
     

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Formal education and training in Health, Safety, Environment and Risk Management
  • Experience in working with OH&S Regulations and Guidelines
  • Experience in Managing and training employees in HSE processes
  • Demonstrated attributes in judgment, decision making, planning, organizing, problem solving, analytical skill, interpersonal sensitivity and tolerance are required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Possess a valid Class 5 AB Driver’s License, have an acceptable Driver’s Abstract
  • Program design and development skills, including needs assessment and the creation of innovative solutions driven by specific business results.
  • Requires strong analytical and problem solving skills to review, evaluate, recommend changes and/or develop and implement new programs as requirements and customer needs change
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate clearly to clients and staff; ability to effectively mediate and intervene in workplace, client and staff issues
